Okkyung Lee — cellist, composer, and improviser — meets Explore Ensemble in a new work for herself and the Explore Ensemble sextet: Signals. Following exploratory sessions throughout 2024, Lee’s new work morphs with every performance, adapting in response to the particularities of each performance space and the individual musicianship of the ensemble players. In Signals, Lee’s personal sound of visceral extended techniques multiply among the sextet, who plunge into the depths of their instruments at both intimate and volatile extremes.

Returning to the Transit Festival for their second time with Okkyung Lee, Explore Ensemble present the world premiere of ‘Signals’ as part of their autumn 2024 tour.
